Villa Breda, Aged-care Facility
The project involved the refurbishment and extension of the Villa Breda Service Centre, originally completed in 1992. The refurbishment included internal spatial reorganisation, the construction of a new main entrance. A restaurant serving residents and visitors was introduced at the main entrance level and two new ventilation plant rooms were constructed within the attic.
In parallel with the refurbishment, the service centre was expanded with a new 60-bed nursing home extension, predominantly two storeys in height. At the junction with the existing building, the extension rises to three storeys, forming a clear connecting element between old and new. A terraced courtyard was introduced along the side of the building, with parking accommodated beneath. Solar panels were installed on the roof, and the extension is completed by a generous roof terrace oriented towards views of the surrounding landscape and evening light.
