Helsinki Fair Centre

Messukeskus plans to refurbish and expand its facilities to meet the growing demand for larger, multifunctional conference venues capable of hosting a wide variety of international events. The focus of the design task is to develop a building extension that improves visitor orientation, enhances internal logistics, and allows for multiple simultaneous events. A new entrance building — Solar — will add a welcoming hall and a new façade to the southern entrance at Messuaukio.

Conference Hall 101 and Long-Term Development Plan

The newly renovated Conference Hall 101 has been upgraded to meet today’s highest standards for versatile events. Featuring a fully equipped stage with new screens, the hall easily adapts to occasions ranging from intimate gatherings to large-scale conferences. Enhanced acoustics, lighting, and a refreshed color scheme create an inviting atmosphere that ensures a high-quality experience for every event.

Messukeskus currently spans over 100,000 square meters and consists of seven exhibition halls, 40 meeting rooms, and a 4,400-seat auditorium. In total, the convention centre planned extension and refurbishment will add multipurpose event spaces and meeting rooms for over 3,000 people, along with parking for 250 vehicles. In the future, the extension will create a unified architectural impression across multiple construction phases and redefine the entrance and visitor services of Finland’s largest convention centre.
