Learning Centre Aleksandria

The colourful new learning centre creates a gateway between the existing Porthania building and Helsinki University Library, forming an enclosed, weatherproof connection between the different university spaces. The southwest-facing window walls made it possible to implement two light wells, which ensure sufficient natural light for all floors.

The interior is a paradise for e-learning with 700 workstations reserved for students.
The project also included renovation work in the adjacent existing buildings. Unnecessary corridors and partition walls were removed. The original wooden doors, colours and decor in the adjacent existing office corridors were preserved.
