Helsinki Fair Centre, Hall 7
Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre Hall 7 was completed in August 2011.
The hall’s form continues the design language of the adjacent sports field area and the Velodrome cycling stadium. The tall, light-toned multipurpose hall can be adapted not only for exhibitions but also, when needed, for indoor sports competitions. Hall 7 can also be divided into two separate sections. The long spans of the hall’s truss structure made the solution highly economical. Ample natural light can enter the hall through a large east-facing glass window, with a surface area of 1,200 square meters. The window, like a giant eye, can be seen across the sports field all the way to Mäkelänkatu.
Aluminium sheets, cut into sculptural shapes, animate the façade.
