Lauttasaari Primary School

The design for this renovation project adhered to the essential characteristics of the original school building designed by J.S. Sirén completed in 1954 and listed by the city as a historically significant building. For the restoration of old building elements, we developed the solutions together with the city museum and building control authorities to adhere closely to the essential characteristics of the original architecture.

The school complex includes an annex on the opposite side of the yard, which originally housed a clinic on the ground floor and the Lauttasaari library on the upper floor. All of the spaces were thoroughly renovated, and the building services were updated. The wooden windows of the buildings were replaced with new windows similar to the originals following a model installation approved by the city museum. We also replaced the playground and sports equipment, as well as the outdoor seating areas.
